QSNP member Mariana Ferreira presents at OFC Conference
5 April 2024Mariana Ramos Ferreira shared her latest breakthrough at the OFC Conference in San Diego – unveiling the potential of a Datacom-agnostic shortwave QKD for Short-reach links. Her team’s research showcases the robustness of shortwave QKD in short-reach links, even under 100Gb/s coexistence with classical C-Band channels.
OFC stands as the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals. The program itself is comprehensive, spanning from research to marketplace, from components to systems and networks, and from technical sessions to the exhibition floor. Furthermore, for over 40 years, OFC has attracted attendees from all corners of the globe, providing a platform to meet and greet, teach and learn, make connections, and ultimately move the industry forward.
In particular, the 2024 Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exhibition (OFC) surpassed all expectations, drawing a remarkable 12,500 attendees from 74 countries. Moreover, it featured over 630 exhibiting companies (a substantial 23% increase from 2023) and hosted a multitude of sessions with industry leaders and invited speakers. As a result, OFC 2024 has firmly established itself as the premier event for industry experts worldwide. It not only served as a pinnacle for innovation and collaboration in the field but also reinforced its status as the global hub for optical fiber communications
QSNP Partner Mariana Ramos Ferreira, experimental researcher at the Quantum group in AIT, presented her latest scientific paper “Datacom-Agnostic Shortwave QKD for Short-Reach Links”. “[I’m] proud to contribute to the advancement of secure and efficient data transmission in today’s interconnected world.” Mariana explains. In their article, Ramos Ferreira and her colleagues investigate the co-existence of 852-nm and 1550-nm QKD with carrier-grade 4×25-Gb/s/λ LANWDM over a short-reach interconnect.
